whats the federal legal age to buy .22 bullets?
so ever since i turned 18 last october ive been buying .22 long rifle bullets and going out with friends and hunting and shooting a bit. i even bought some yesterday, well i went to dicks sporting goods where i bought a 500 pack yesterday and now the manager was being a complete dick (oh the irony) and saying no under federal law we cant sell it to you because you can put them in a handgun and whoever sold them to you wont work here much longer i can guarentee you that. so its kind of bugging me cause everywhere else they ask are you buying it for handgun or rifle, rifle 18 handgun 21. so if someone can direct me to a link with the federal and state law for arizona regarding the legal age to buy .22 rounds that would be VERY appreciated, i have a big camping trip coming up and already have like 300 12 guage shells buncha .30-30 and it just wont be the same without the .22 lol
I went through the same thing, and that was in 1971: if you’re buying for a pistol, you have to be 21, but for a rifle, it’s 18. If you say “Both” then it’s 21. It sounds like a scam, but the dealer told me to always say “Rifle.”
My kid had the exact same thing happen, too in 1997. I had warned him, though, so he said “Rifle” though he may have had my Ruger Mk II Target pistol with him at the time.
