What is the best place to camp in France? I ride with my wife and 2yr old.?
I am looking for a bit of France, get good conditions Weather and perhaps find some surf. Vendee sounds good. Can anyone suggest a site? The French do not seem to be simple, Decent showers near a beach will do me – perhaps a small pool. I do not need water slides, I do not need to cabaret, do not need people dressed in costumes giant rabbit and do not speedos. You have any ideas?
If you want a very good (even if "expensive in high season) campsite near the sea, without all the add-ons chavvy I suggest you look at the website: Camping the Well of Autur which is just outside St Palais-sur-Mer in the Vendee. The site is on Route D25 is all there is between the doors camping and a long sandy beach, safe. Most sites are in the shade of pine trees is important because it tends to get very hot at times. It has a pool, but most people use the sea to bathe. The facilities are excellent and include a mini market and good to go, if you can not be bothered to cook. It is also close some moderately priced restaurants. The nearest town is Royan which was almost entirely rebuilt after its destruction during the war. We been twice and enjoyed it every time.
