A catalytic heater safe for indoors?
I go camping in my harness this weekend and it is quite cool at night. I wonder if catalytic heater (uses propane) will be safe to use. In the box it says it is safe to use indoors emergency at home, ice fishing, etc., but it will be safe in a small enclosed area? I realize a window should be open to fresh air.
Anything that produces heat burns oxygen, especially something that a flame (DO your catalytic heater if you can not see it). Consequently, there is carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide to be concerned and ventilation is a key to use. Do not just keep an open vent … but the average cross ventilation. It will always keep hot zone and I would be located where you will not run on it or a part of launching a sleeping bag on it. I hung mine support the center of the tent about 3 feet from the top … it warms the roof but did not and I used hot wire fixation (cord can burn).
